Where is Lombok?
Lombok Island, east of Bali, is an island in Indonesia. Lombok forms part of the Lesser Sunda Islands, and is located between Bali (to the east) and Sumbawa Island (to the west). It belongs to the West Nusa Tenggara province, of which Lombok’s largest city, Mataram, is the capital.
Most visitors to Lombok travel from Bali. Lombok is reached from Bali by plane (30-40 mins), fast boat (2 hours), or ferry (4 hours).

Mount Rinjani, Lombok
The second highest volcano in Indonesia is 3726 m above sea level. Many tourists from all over the world come for the trek; the spectacular view of Mount Rinjani is definitely one of the highlights of Lombok. You can book multi-day guided tours to Crater Lake and even to the top at all touristy spots. The trek up Mount Rinjani is open from April to December (dry season). January-March is the closed rainy season.
Pergasingan Hill Sembalun (Lombok Island)
The place is close to Mount Rinjani, which is 700 meters above sea level, and it’s a little bit cold up there. At the entrance of the site, tourists might see a welcome sign as well. Take a 3-hour drive from Senggigi. Most visitors come for camping
Sengigi Beach (Lombok Island East Of Bali)

Gili Nanggu
The private island, It’s perfect for a snorkeling, diving, or relaxing day trip. On Gili Nanggu there is only one accommodation (Gili Nanggu Cottages & Resort with bungalows directly at the beach) and one restaurant.

The tiniest island, and you won’t find anything on the island, except for some trees in the middle. a good for swimming and snorkeling
Gili Sudak
Place to restaurant for lunch, on tour of Gili Nanggu, will find a couple of warung where you can order all kinds of local food like ‘Gado Gado,’ Nasi Goreng, or local fish.
Pusuk Pass (monkey forest)
In the Monkey forest of Lombok, you see monkey on the road; you could feed them bananas and peanuts. They are friendly and stay on the roadside.
Tetebatu
The small village is about 2 km from the southern boundary of Mount Rinjani National Park. It is a quaint and scenic rural area some 700 meters above sea level and gives visitors the chance to experience real, traditional village life in Lombok.
Tetebatu is the best cultural attraction; the handicraft villages of Loyok produce black terracotta and baskets. The nearby town of Kotaraja is the village that has a long tradition of produce blacksmith tools
Kuta Beach, Lombok
The Kuta area is probably the second tourist hotspot on Lombok. It offers beautiful beaches as well and lots of hotels and restaurants. Even Kuta Beach itself is worth a look. Drive 20 minutes from Lombok Airport.

Mawun Beach
White sand beach, and sometimes the waves are heavier over here. The beach is secluded and located west of Kuta in an almost enclosed bay, which you can easily reach with your scooter as well.
Selong Belanak beach (Lombok Island)
Rarely saw such a wide and shallow beach like Selong Belanak somewhere else. You can perfectly surf or swim at this long beach. We strongly recommend taking a look at the near viewpoint overlooking the beach and the bay. It’s located a bit north of Selong Belanak Beach.
Tanjung Aan beach (Lombok Island)
Turquoise sea and white sand, the way many travelers love to visit, a large beach with an amazing view, and a drive to the east part of the Kuta area. Even here you can climb a rock to enjoy a breathtaking view over the two bays and beaches of Tanjung Aan

Pink Beach, East Lombok

Other ways to reach Pink beach You can take a local boat from Tanjung Luar, which takes around 40 minutes, and the view is spectacular. You will make a stop at the small island Pulau Pasir (Sand Island) on the way back. Take a boat from Tanjung Luar, and you will snorkel longer and enjoy it more.
Mosques and Hindu temples (Lombok Island)
Lombok’s population is Muslim; you can see mosques everywhere. The Hindu temple will be see around Mataram and Cakra Neegara, a big Temple in Lombok, some of which was built by the kingdom from Bali, was war 1400s.
Waterfalls Sendang Gila, Tiu Kelep, benang stokel kelambu
Lombok waterfalls are in the northern part of the island. Among others, there would be Tiu Teja, Tiu Kelep, or Sendang Gile. In the center of Lombok you will find a few decent ones as well, like the Benang Kelambu, Benang Stokel, or Jeruk Manis waterfall at Tetebatu.
Drink it, swim, or just let the ice-cold water hail down your back—superb. Visitingthe Tiu Kelep and Sendang Gile waterfalls are great to combine; driving to one direction waterfall will take you one day.

Sasak culture
The Sasak are the indigenous people of this island, who today make up about 85% of the total population of Lombok. Their culture is fascinating and as a visitor you definitely need to experience it. Their food known for its spiciness, their handicraft, their music and dances, the typical Sasak houses or a Sasak wedding with (extreme loud) street parade with “Gendang Beleq” musicians you need to experience.
English only helps in tourist spots, which makes a guided tour a great option to get to know the Sasak culture.
Mataram, Ampenan, Cakranegara (Lombok Island)

Senaru Village
The oldest traditional village in Lombok is in North Lombok, on the way to trek Mount Rinjani. It’s the first village of the Sasak tribe on the island. The village is pretty quiet. And all the houses look the same design, which they inherited from their ancestors. There is no closed bedroom in the house. All the bedrooms are open without doors or walls.
Sembalun: Lombok Island
Sembalun located in the eastern part of the slope of Mount Rinjani. You will drive from the capital for around 3 hours, you will find beautiful landscapes and some plantations like onion, strawberry, garlic, etc.
